Francis Muchaamba

Francis is a postdoc at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich (UZH) and is a passionate molecular microbiologist. His research focuses on Listeria and Escherichia albertii. He is also the current American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Young Leaders Circle Chairperson.
Danai Etter
Co-founder, organizing committee
Danai is a postdoc at the institute for Food Safety and Hygiene at UZH. She's researching bacterial enterotoxins. In her free time she likes to hang out with her cat, go bouldering, or read novels.
Giverny Ganz
Organizing committee
Giverny is a research assistant in the Food Biotechnology group at the ZHAW in Wädenswil. Her research involves topics covering food fermentation and the projects she is working on are in collaboration with industry partners. A few of her hobbies include hiking, climbing and baking.
Lukas Schwyter
Organizing committee
Lukas is currently a PhD student in the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine. His research focuses on studying polymicrobial infections in children with cystic fibrosis. He is particularly interested in understanding how interactions among the three most abundant pathogens in young CF patients—P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and H. influenzae—evolve and change during the first eight years of their lives.
Dennis Wipfli
Organizing committee
Dennis studied microbiology at University of Zurich and works as an R&D Scientist at the Mibelle Biochemistry Group where he develops new active ingredients based on natural resources. In his free time he likes doing all kind of sports such as hiking in the mountains, cycling on the road or windsurfing on the lake.
Daniel Brugger
Organizing Committee
Daniel is an animal scientist at the Institute of Animal Nutrition and Dietetics, Vetsuisse Faculty, UZH, with a focus on the nutritional physiology of livestock organisms. Before his employment at the University of Zurich, Daniel worked at the Chair of Animal Nutrition at the Technical University of Munich, where he oversaw a variety of projects on all aspects of animal nutrition and nutritional physiology. He recently entered microbiological research by launching a project on the interactions of microplastic particles within the rumen microbial ecosystem.
